There’s nothing darker than stepping foot inside an abortion clinic knowing countless babies have lost their lives at the hands of cruel abortionists.
Serena Dyksen knew this all too well – after she had been raped by a family member at the tender age of 13, her parents took her to an abortion facility to kill her own baby.
But now many years later, the same abortion clinic Serena once visited has since shut its doors – and she is raising funds to purchase the building for her new ministry. And just wait until you hear how she plans to use it for good.
Serena was determined to not let her painful past get the best of her, and she wanted to use the trauma of both her rape and abortion to help others.
So she started an abortion recovery ministry called “She Found His Grace” which helps women who have had abortions seek healing by connecting them with others who also regret their abortions and puts them in touch with Christian coaches to help them process their pain.
Serena speaks around the country and has even written a book sharing her story to help others – but she wants to do more.
And once she found out the abortion clinic she was taken to many years back had shut its doors, she thought about how she could turn this former place of darkness and pain into something good.
She decided to start a campaign to buy the building and turn it into a healing center for women who have had abortions by offering Bible studies and Christian counseling as well as short-term and long-term care for those engaged in the healing process.
Serena’s GoFundMe page states her intent for the building:
“The women would be able to use this space as safe haven. The goal is to help them find their healed voices so they can help other women choose life. We know when women find their healed voices after abortion, abortion minded women are 85% more likely to keep their babies because they are hearing the truth first hand of how abortion has devasted their lives.
We would offer weekly abortion recovery classes. This space would also offer a place for the community to come heal around our prayer garden and remembrance wall.
This place was once a place of death, we want to sow life. It was once a place of sorrow but we will sow joy. Where there was wounding we will sow healing. Where was deception, we sow truth.”
Amen!
What a beautiful way to take one’s pain and use it to help others.
Often times, when tragedies and trauma happens in our lives, we allow it to define us and trap us into doubting God’s goodness.
Of course, the enemy would like nothing more than to lie and lead us to believe God has abandoned us in our darkest moments.
But nothing could be further from the truth!
We may not know why tragedies happen, other than the fact we live in a broken world full of sin.
But we can rest in the truth that God is sovereign and He will restore the years lost and make a purpose from our pain.
Let us pray for Serena and her post-abortive ministry, and pray she will raise the $200,000 needed to buy this old abortion clinic and restore it into something good.
In addition, let us continue to pray for all the wonderful ministries out there doing their part to help women heal from the darkness of abortion.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
