As the world increasingly celebrates the slaughter of unborn children and turns a blind eye to the babies who have survived a botched abortion, one incredible man decided to take matters into his own hands.
This Catholic man from Brazil believes wholeheartedly in the value of every human life and could no longer ignore these innocent lives.
Truly living out his faith, Tônio Tavares personally adopted 42 children with special needs and created the most incredible hidden community.
Called “The Community of Baby Jesus,” this place is indeed supernatural.
It is here that Tavares made it his life’s calling to ensure all children, regardless of their physical or intellectual disabilities, had a safe place to call home.
LifeSite News reports:
“This is the message of the Catholic Community of the Child Jesus: it is to embrace life, to acknowledge life, to respect life throughout its development: from conception until natural death,” Tavares told LifeSiteNews in an exclusive interview. “Life, at the present time, must continue to be defended: always, always, always.”
And these aren’t just words for Tavares – it is his way of life.
It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by all the need in the world – and many people feel paralyzed by where to even begin.
But for Tavares, he just woke up each day and did the next right thing.
And starting right in his own community, he’s made the world just a little bit better – especially for these 42 children.
But in addition to providing them with tangible things like food and medical care, he shows them the love of Christ.
Tavares told LifeSite News about the miracle of one of his children named “Jean” who had survived a botched abortion.
LifeSite News continues:
“For you and for all defenders of life if all over the world, he [Jean] is the great answer of God,” said Tavares. “It is impossible in our eyes that a child who has undergone various forms of violence in order to avoid his birth, who was attacked in the womb of his mother for not being normal, should have managed to see the light.”
Because of the pandemic, Tavares admits that 2020 has been a rough year for his ministry since so many people are out of work and unable to financially donate to help keep this little community afloat.
Tragically, he even lost one of his adopted children due to the coronavirus and lamented the grief he felt not being able to be there in the child’s last moments because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Yet even through his grief and financial struggles, Tavares knows God is faithful and trusts in Him to provide.
What an amazing act of faith and display of God’s love in a dark world.
May the Lord bless your ministry, Tônio Tavares!
