At Catholic Loyola Marymount University, a student who wishes to remain anonymous, was stunned when her teacher gave her paper a low grade.
The student wasn’t penalized for poor grammar – or missing the point of the essay.
Instead, she lost points from her paper – simply because she referred to God as a He.
Yes, really.
Apparently, theology professor Cecilia Gonzalez-Andrieu was deeply offended that one of her students dared refer to God as a “he” …
… as if there is another alternative!
She wrote shocking comments on the student’s paper – telling the student how to “fix it” if she wanted a good grade.
Naturally, after working hard on the paper, the student was stunned by the low grade and the teacher’s disparaging remarks.
Thankfully, she didn’t stay silent.
The Catholic student defended herself to her teacher – emailing and stating that the Bible refers to God as a He throughout Scripture – and that she shouldn’t be penalized for holding true to her Catholic faith.
In her email – the student quoted Bible verses – referring to God as “Father,” that supported her claim; she also expressed outrage at the blatant discrimination.
The Federalist reported:
“In an email to the professor, she noted that at “multiple times throughout the Bible, God is referred to as ‘he,’ then going on to say “I feel targeted by your comment, as I was raised in the church with the belief that God is a male.”
This should have shaken Gonzalez-Andrieu and snapped her back to reality.
But it didn’t.
Instead of dropping her pro-LGBT crusade – she doubled down – and refused to give the points back to the student unless she made major changes to the paper.
The Federalist continued:
“Gonzalez-Andrieu told the student that in order for her to receive the points back, she’d have to “have a conversation with other scholars” in the footnotes.
She also requested that the student “resubmit your paper and add a footnote stating your reasons as a scholar to opt to preserve male language for God.”
The fact that a student at a Catholic University was docked points for referring to God as a male, shows how far we’ve fallen as a society.
It’s no wonder our teens and young adults are confused!
The very adults who students are supposed to trust, lead students astray.
Thankfully, this student knew Scripture, was strong in her convictions, and had courage to stand up for herself.
Let’s hope, that when pressed by leftist teachers in the academic world – other students will fight back against propaganda and stand true to their convictions.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
