Becoming a parent is one of God’s greatest gifts to us – and the stewardship of caring for these precious souls is an honor – and a big responsibility.
In addition to developmental milestones and caring for their physical needs – the greatest duty of a parent is to raise their children to know and fear the Lord.
Whether your “little one” is just a baby – or even a grown adult – here are some ways you can pray for them.
Pray They Will Come To Know Jesus
Even before they are born – one of the greatest prayers we can pray for our little one is for their salvation.
Pray at a young age they will come to know the Lord and trust in His goodness.
If they’re older and have walked away from the faith – pray the Lord will restore their hearts and remind them of His truth.
Make sure to introduce them to God’s Word at a young age and continue to pray they will have an intimate relationship with Jesus.
Pray For Their Future Spouse
After accepting Christ – one of the biggest decisions in a person’s life is who they will marry.
Being unequally yoked is not only forbidden by God – but it can lead to disaster and ruin.
We all know too many people in life who were “on the right track” – only to be swept up by the wrong person – and derailing their entire life.
Pray your child will marry someone who will love Jesus more than anyone else.
Pray They Will Have A Heart For The Lost
Pray your child will have a heart for those who don’t know Jesus, and will grow deeper in their faith to want to share the Gospel with them.
There are countless stories of children sharing their faith at school with their classmates – even leading others to Christ.
And who knows – you might just have a future missionary living under your roof!
Teach them to pray for spiritual eyes to see others as God sees them.
Pray For Their Mind
It is no secret – this world is gunning for our children.
Our current culture seeks to sweep them up in a web of confusion – causing them to doubt everything from their gender to even the goodness of their own parents.
And we know Satan is the father of lies – which is why it’s critical to pray for your little one to have a sound mind to recognize God’s truth.
Pray With Them
In addition to praying for your child – don’t forget to pray with them!
Teaching your child how to pray, and praying alongside them will install an important spiritual discipline that will guide them throughout this life.
The prayer of a parent over their child is powerful – and our children need our prayers now more than ever.
May God bless you and your family.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
