Being a parent is one of the toughest jobs on the planet and being a Christian parent in the modern secular world puts even more on your plate. There are so many roles a parent plays from youth leader to soccer coach, to spouse, and so on.
It makes sense we often feel pulled in so many directions. How do we fit God into all of our other activities? Are we taking on too much? Do our children see the character of our savior Jesus Christ in our day to day lives?
But teaching our children about God and the Bible doesn’t require sitting them down and forcing them to listen to cassettes of old sermons for hours on end.
It does, however, mean that our words and actions should be purposeful, reflecting the principles found in Scripture. As a Christian parent, it helps to be focused and creative when teaching your kids about the Bible and its principles when time often escapes us and important things too easily fall by the wayside.
Purposeful parenting requires more than just a decision; it requires dedication and lots of prayer.
So, here are four reflections that I have gained through experience and prayer that will help make God and the Bible the center of your family, even in a busy world.
