In a world that always tells us to “do more” and “hustle” our way through life – it can be tough to take a moment to simply rest and remember our true purpose.
The truth is, God never designed us to work ourselves to death or go through life alone.
So if you’re feeling burned out, tired, and exhausted – here are a few ways you can reset – and find your true strength.
Enjoy A Prayer Nature Walk
There’s something calming about being outside in nature and admiring the brightly colored flowers or the rich colors of the changing leaves.
The majesty of God is demonstrated in His creation – and reminds us just how magnificent He truly is!
As the waves roll in and the sun sets – take a moment to praise God for being the ultimate Creator, in charge of it all.
When we remember that even the winds and waves are at His command, it can put our problems into perspective.
Take a moment and say (or even sing) a song of praise to Him as you enjoy all that He has created.
Spend Quality Time Alone With Him
When is the last time you truly spent time alone with God?
While a quick devotional is nice – I’m talking more about the deep, soul-soaking time alone with Him.
Since God speaks through His Word, consider reading a Bible verse – and truly meditating on what He said.
Lay down in your bed and just let His words soak into your mind.
Pray to Him – repent and confess your sins – praise Him for who He is – present your requests to Him – and just spend time alone with Him.
There’s no deeper refreshment than being filled up with the love from the Father.
Let It All Out – And Let It Go
Many of us who have been wounded are carrying around the weight of invisible baggage we can’t even see.
Whether it’s past hurts, habits, or hang-ups (as they discuss in Celebrate Recovery) – or guilt and shame – oftentimes we are saddled down with the weight of something we were never supposed to carry.
Consider journaling and writing out the emotion or emotions you’re feeling – and asking God for help and for Him to lift this burden from you.
To commemorate releasing the pain of your past – you can do something tangible like writing it on a balloon and releasing it into the sky, or on a piece of paper and then burning it (safely).
And take heart!
Remember, God died for your sins – past, present, and future.
He’s promised all throughout His Word that He will be there for His children – so call upon Him for help – and healing.
May the Lord bless you!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
