During these tough economic times, many people are facing extreme hardships – and some even risk losing their own homes.
Linda Taylor had been renting her home for 19 years and suddenly faced the threat of an eviction.
But her beloved neighbors couldn’t bear the thought of seeing Linda lose her home – so they stepped up in the most incredible way.
For more than two decades, Linda has volunteered her time to help the homeless, and has truly cared about the community she’s lived in.
Her neighbors adore her – and commend her selfless sacrifice to the community.
So when Linda shared what was happening with one of her neighbors – this neighbor was determined to make sure Linda would not be evicted.
A full-scale neighborhood push began with everyone chipping in to help Linda keep her home.
As a result of the neighbors coming together to care for 70-year-old Linda – the community had raised over $275,000 and Linda was able to BUY her home – and will never have to fear eviction again.
What an amazing blessing and demonstration of what a group of people can do by working together.
KSTP reported:
“Yesterday I went and did the closing for the house,” Taylor said.
She said $275,000 in donations from the community made it happen.
“It makes me feel so good,” Taylor said. “Everything that I have given, it’s coming back to me and I want to continue to give. I love this neighborhood.”
Taylor said this marks the start of a new chapter and another opportunity to stick around and give back.
“When we are sticking together, we are going to be successful in our neighborhood. We’re going to take care of each other,” Taylor said.”
Linda’s story is touching – and should serve as a conviction to us all – that each of us can do something to help those around us.
Individually – we all have a role to play in serving God’s kingdom.
For some it could mean donating a large chunk of money to help an elderly woman keep her home or aiding a family in crisis.
Others of us are gifted in giving practical means – such as being able to fix a leaky faucet or babysitting a toddler to help a new mom out.
But never underestimate the power of serving right in your own community.
Many people are hurting in their own ways – and as the body of Christ, we can all rally together to walk alongside those during their darkest days.
We were never meant to go at life alone – but instead we are called to carry the burdens of one another.
As for Linda Taylor – we are overjoyed her neighborhood was able to step up and help her buy the home she’s lived in for 19 years.
We wish this beautiful community well as they continue looking out for and serving one another.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
